Cut-off values for NT-proBNP quantification adjusted for age, gender and comorbidities for the diagnosis of heart disease heart failure in patients with diabetes1
---
This calculator provides cut-off values for the NT-proBNP biomarker adjusted for age, gender and the main comorbidities of patients with diabetes (obesity, heart failure and atrial fibrillation), facilitating the accurate diagnosis of heart failure in patients aged 50 and over, with or without symptoms of heart disease.
The calculator was developed as part of a collaborative effort between the Portuguese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (SPEDM), the Portuguese Society of Cardiology (SPC), the Diabetes Mellitus Study Centre of the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine (NEDM-SPMI), and the Portuguese Association of General and Family Medicine (APMGF), to disseminate and implement in clinical practice consensus recommendations on the use of natriuretic peptides in the diagnosis of heart disease in patients with diabetes.
